Here's a countdown to the top 10 all-time favorite Hollywood movie dialogues. No. 3 will give you chills!
#10 “ Always !” – Severus Snape (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II)
The majority of the Pottermaniacs hated Professor Snape for his sheer dislike of Harry Potter. But then came Deathly Hallows Part II and everyone couldn’t hide their love for him. Apparently, Snape was deeply in love with Harry’s mother Lily. But as we know she went on to marry Harry’s father James.
So when Dumbledore saw that Snape’s Patronus was a silver doe same as that of Lily, he knew that he still loved her. So when he asked, “after all this time?”, Snape choked with emotion, replied,"Always!”.
#9 “ Let’s never come back here because it would never be as much fun” – Charlotte (Lost in Translation)
We have all felt sometimes that we will never be able to enjoy as much as we did. Because there are some moments which can’t be recreated; they can only be cherished. And that’s exactly what Scarlett Johannson’s character meant.
#8 “The past is just a story we tell ourselves”– Samantha (Her)
Although Samantha is an artificially intelligent operating system we humans couldn’t agree more with her on this. Dwelling in the past will do absolutely no good at all. The rational thing to do is to treasure all the good kinds of stuff, learn from all the bad ones and pace forward.
#7 “You can’t just sit there and put everybody’s lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love”– Sam (The Perks of Being a Wallflower )
It is important that we make ourselves a priority. Also if the person you’ve been caring for doesn’t even spare a thought to acknowledge or appreciate, it means that its high time that you walk away. Because that’s not how a relationship works. It has to be mutual as Emma Watson’s character puts it.
#6 “Don’t ever let somebody tell you can’t do something, not even me, alright? You got a dream. You gotta protect it. When people can’t do something themselves. They wanna tell you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period”– Chris Gardner (The Pursuit of Happiness )
Undoubtedly a gem among the Hollywood movie dialogues, if this doesn’t motivate you then I don’t know what will!
#5 “The only person standing in your way is you!” – Thomas Leroy (Black Swan)
It's scary isn’t it when you put all your efforts but still can’t get what you aspire. What’s stopping you then? Maybe this time you need to shed all your inhibitions so that you discover a new you who will make things happen. Don’t believe me? Ask Nina Sayers!
#4 “You know how everyone’s always saying seize the moment? I don’t know, I am kinda thinking it’s another way around. You know, like the moment seize us” – Nicole (Boyhood)
We should all try this. Instead of trying to make every moment perfect, let's just go with the flow and have a little adventure. You know as they say, just let all go!
#3 “I wish we could chat longer but I am having an old friend for dinner”– Dr. Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs)
You might think he’s just going to have dinner with a friend, what’s so chilling about that? Seems normal, isn’t it? Now, what if I told you Mr. Lecter is a cannibalistic serial killer who is not at all happy with his friend; goosebumps?
#2 “Do not go gentle into that good night. Old age should burn and rave at the close of the day; rage, rage against the dying of light”– Interstellar
Although many Hollywood movie dialogues have been inspired by famous poetries, however, none came even close to generating the same impact that these lines by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas did.. To witness its effect, you have to watch this Christopher Nolan masterpiece.
#1 “ I guess it comes down to a simple choice really. Get busy living or get busy dying” – Andy Dufresne (The Shawshank Redemption)
One of the most quoted heavily quoted Hollywood movie dialogues. The quest for life’s motto just ended with these lines. Nothing more to say!
